Optimizing Cotton Blend Costs with Respect to Quality Using HVI Fiber Properties and Linear Programming

In this part of the study, mathematical linear programming is used to optimize cotton blend costs with respect to HVI quality parameters. Assumptions and limitations of the method are discussed, and advanced techniques such as sensitivity and parametric analyses are demonstrated. These techniques provide a range of optimal solutions for a given problem, offering a great deal of flexibility in implementing linear programming. The focus in this part of the study is on the quality constraints of individual HVI fiber properties and inventory constraints. The mathematical complexity of linear programming is minimized by illustrating its principle using a simple graphic method, and by focusing on the output of the simplex analyses rather than complex algorithms.
