Experimental verification platform for FC-over-WDM-based avionic network

Fibre Channel has been deployed on a number of military/aerospace platforms such as, F35/JSF, F8, F16, E2C, etc. Owing to the incomparable performance of wavelength division multiplexing (WDM), advanced optical networks with WDM have been targeted as the technology of choice to realize the desired avionic network of the future. The combination of FC with WDM is expected to play an important role in optimizing avionic system. This paper studies the feasibility of FC over WDM with an experiment verification platform. Test results with high transmission rate and good performance indicates that FC over WDM can be applied effectively in avionics environment and is a good choice for the further research of WDM technology under avionics environment.
