The relationship between children's and parents' heights in the age-range 0-6 years.

SummaryThe correlation coefficients at each year of age 0·0 to 0·6 between children's and parents' heights are reported for 500 children followed longitudinally in Brno. Mothers' heights were measured; fathers' partially only reported. At birth the correlation is only significant with mother's height, but at 2·0 to 6·0 years no significant differences occur between sons and daughters and fathers and mothers correlations. Regression of children's height on midparent height is given, with residual standard deviations.
