The paper presents the net-based learning environment Munics (Munich Net-based learning in Computer Science) which is intended to support students of computer science to acquire applicable knowledge. Munics is centered around an authentic case study: the difficulties of knowledge management within a university institute. An interactive multimedia problem context provides the students with relevant information about the problem. In order to develop a solution for the problem the students have to apply theoretical concepts from their lectures. To support the students' learning process Munics offers different cognitive tools as well as a net-based environment for cooperation and discussion. Moreover, the learner can ask for expert help or additional background information.
