A New Method of Evaluating Well Controlled Reserves of Horizontal Wells in Tight Gas Sandstone Reservoirs

Based on static geology and dynamic production data of horizontal wells in Sulige Gas Field, dynamic performance analysis was performed on old typical horizontal wells, using rate transient analysis by RTA type curve matching technique, combining with material balance equation and productivity formula of horizontal wells.A convenient evaluating chart of the horizontal well's controlled reserves was established. The chart was applied to 6horizontal wells in Suliege tight gas field. The results show that cumulative gas production per specific casing pressure drop increases with time extending and that there is a linear relationship between well controlled reserves and cumulative gas production per specific pressure drop at different production time. This correlation would become better with time extending. The established evaluating chart is simple, only requiring production data with high precision, providing a new method to evaluate well controlled reserves of horizontal wells. This chart with significant application value can also offer reference values for other evaluating methods of well controlled reserves.
