Nuclear fuel logistics.

Nuclear fuel logistics, as interpreted in this paper, relate to the composite of decisions and operations necessary for efficient supply, utilization, and salvage of power reactor fuel. The many operations which make up the familiar nuclear fuel cycle are schematically depicted in Figure 1. These operations include uranium mining arid milling, uranium purification and enrichment, fresh and recycle fuel feed preparation and fabrication, fuel reproces'sing and recovery of residual values, low and high level waste disposal, nuclear power plant on-site fuel handling and in-core fuel management, and transportation of nuclear materials.
