Heterogeneous Multi-layer Wireless Networking for Mobile CPS

This paper first introduces a heterogeneous multi-layer networking architecture for the mobile cyber-physical systems (CPS). In the network, a CPS terminal can adaptively access to a wireless local-area access network (WLAN) gateway or a wireless wide-area access network (WWAN) base station (BS) according to the channel conditions. The heterogeneous CPS wireless network schedules the CPS terminal to either the WLAN or the WWAN via a joint scheduling algorithm. The simulations show that the heterogeneous CPS system provides a capacity gain over the simple combination of WLAN and WWAN.
