Investigation of space charge formation at polymer interface using laser induced pressure pulse technique

This paper reports the results of an investigation into the space charge formation and decay at the interface between polyethylene and ethylene vinyl-acetate used in cable insulation systems. Planar samples were subjected to high dc electric stress for extended periods of time and space charge measurements taken using the laser induced pressure pulse (LIPP) technique. The results were compared with those obtained from the individual materials under the same experimental conditions.
