A Low Complexity Channel Estimation Method for MIMO-OFDM Systems

A method of channel estimation based on training sequences is proposed for MIMO-OFDM systems. Moreover, the criterion is derived by simplified means for optimum training sequences construction. Based on the criterion, two methods are proposed for construction of optimum training sequences. Computer simulations are conducted to evaluate the channel estimation and optimum training sequences construction methods for TU and HT delay profiles. Simulation results show that the proposed channel estimation method has the same estimation accuracy as the traditional methods. However, the computational complexity is reduced greatly. It is also shown that the optimum training sequences constructed by the Hadamard matrix enhance channel estimation with the estimation accuracy improvement by 2dB.
