Comparative Study between Speed Control and Torque Control of the Flywheel Energy Storage System

This article is part of the strategy to increase the penetration of renewable energies in electricity networks, especially those that are weakly interconnected, such as island power grids. A limit of penetration of intermittent energies. To allow to exceed this limit, one solution is to couple decentralized and intermittent generation sources with storage. we were interested in this article flywheel. The objective is to make a comparative study between the speed control and torque control of the Flywheel Energy Storage System (FESS). Using Matlab / Simulink, Simulation results allow us to visualize the capabilities and performance of each of them.
