Performance of Tandem, Dual, and Single Tires

ABSTRACT TESTS were conducted to compare the tractive per-formance of single, dual, and tandem tractor drive wheel systems. Each system was operated at the same soil and operational conditions. When single and dual systems were operated at the same dynamic load and travel reduction, the net traction for the two systems was almost equal. Generally, the tandem system produced higher net traction and tractive efficiency than either the single or dual system.
