High dynamic range RF frontends from multiband multistandard to Cognitive Radio

This paper will review the RF front end requirements of mobile communication systems. The key challenges for multiband multistandard operation will be derived and discussed. It will be shown that Cognitive Radio based UHF white space devices for cellular applications will require high dynamic range RF front ends. Techniques for the elimination of external SAW-filters and duplexer will be reviewed and discussed.
