New communication technologies and the developing world

Abstract“Weapons of Peace” are how Arthur Clarke would like to see some of the astonishing advances in communication technology occurring today. Developing countries stand to gain most from these innovations as they are not yet burdened with heavy fixed investments in technology that is rapidly becoming obsolete. Notwithstanding present political and ideological differences today, Clarke sees the potential of new communication technologies unifying a much-fragmented world into “one big gossiping family”.
