All-solid-state, compact, and coherent blue source producing 118 mW at 440 nm by intracavity-frequency-tripling Nd:YAG laser beam

Coherent blue light is efficiently generated based on a novel scheme, i.e. intracavity frequency tripling by using partly-periodically-poled KTiOPO/sub 4/. An average power of 118 mW for the blue light is produced for a 10-W pump.
