A new concept for drainage

The traditional method of surface drainage in Delhi is based on outdated norms which results in the creation of large and costly surface drains that degrade/pollute the environment. They also result in rapid run‐off and depletion of the water table. Based on the experience of modern cities, such as Milton Keynes in the UK and Chandigarh, in Delhi, DDA is considering adopting a new concept whereby storm water will be channelled to balancing reservoirs through rolling greens. This is an inexpensive and environmentally progressive method of surface water management.
