Variable redundancy elimination and automatic structure selection within dynamic operability framework

This paper reports the further development of Dynamic Operability Framework for regulatory cases on addressing redundancy elimination and structure selection in process control design. The framework represents the process operations as several high dimensional polyhedrons in variable spaces. The calculation of these polyhedrons, however, raised the redundancy issue amongst process variables, affecting the efficiency of the subsequent optimisations. To address the problem, a cross correlation analysis is performed, leading to significant improvements as demonstrated in a chemical process superstructure case.
