Developing a Fast and Flexible Offline Telemetry Processing System

In future spacecraft systems, it is of vital relevance that the downloaded house-keeping data can be accessed very fast as almost all subsystem engineers rely on these data. For this purpose a fast and flexible offline telemetry processing system is being developed. The experience gained with the current TerraSAR-X offline processing system showed that the performance of this system is not sufficient to fulfill all tasks satisfactory. One aspect, the processing time, can be overcome by distributing several processing tasks on a cluster of processing machines. But still there are gaps in the processed data which lead to a huge amount of manual interaction into the data process. As for the follow-on project TanDEM-X a solution is highly desirable, a completely new offline data processing system is developed in the moment. This processing system is much more powerful than the existing system in terms of processing time. Also the product completeness problems encountered in TerraSAR-X will be eliminated by a new way of treating the incoming data. This paper describes the new offline processing system in basics.
