MAP-MMSE Aided MIMO-MC IDMA System for Uplink Transmission in Frequency Selective Channels: Performance Results

In this paper ,we investigate the performance of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) multi-carrier interleave division multiple access (MCIDMA) scheme in frequency selective channels. In a multi-user scenario users conflict multiple access interference (MAI). Also, the presence of multiple antennas both at the transmitter and receiver introduces multi-stream interference (MSI). Further, the antenna correlation induces performance degradation. Hence, these issues require attention and should be mitigated in order to achieve the desired performance in terms of achievable bit-error-rate (BER). In particular, we investigate the effects of four types of delay-spread distributions pertaining to LTE channel models and SUI channel models in the context of MIMO MC-IDMA with the aid of multi-user detection (MUD). MIMO detection is effected with minimum mean square error (MMSE) maximum-a-posteriori (MAP) detector. Also, performance study is extended to coded MIMO MC-IDMA system in terms of achievable BER with turbo codes. Simulation results show that MC-IDMA with the employed MUD is capable of achieving better performance compared to CDMA.
