Application of Computational Fluid Dynamics on Smart Wing Design

This paper is focused on two-dimensional design of a bending airfoil and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling of them. Scientists and engineers all over the world are trying to explore the possibilities of making adaptive wings a reality—wings with the ability to change its shape. Using smart materials this objective has been achieved—which would improve the structural integrity of the control surface of a wing. In this paper a parametric design is created for the adaptive wing and its performance characteristics are analyzed.
