HANS: A Decision Support System for Military Housing Managers

To provide its personnel with acceptable housing at minimum cost near military installations, the army often enters into agreements for the construction or long-term leasing of housing. The army must support these agreements with a segmented housing market analysis (SHMA). I developed the housing analysis system (HANS) to assist housing managers with the SHMA process. HANS runs on a microcomputer with very user-friendly IFPS computer programs and has automated a portion of the SHMA process. The simplified SHMA process significantly reduces training, implementation time, and personnel costs. Econometric models within HANS also address the practical and theoretical concerns of government auditing agencies.
