This paper deals with investigation of the important control factors influencing on reducing brake squeal noise in caliper brake system. To find the main contribution of each pan yielding squeal noise Taguchi method are carried out. 12 kinds of tests are done twice with noise dynamometer under 10 control factors. The contribution of control factors causing squeal noise is in the order of pad parallelism, disc type, pad friction coefficient, pad compressibility am pad slot The result that bad parallelism is good for squeal noise may be concerned with load distribution between disc and pad. Through these tests, optimized levels of control factors am the contribution of each control factor are verified quantitatively. Finally verification tests prove that optimized specification has lower noise ratio am predicted SIN ratio by Taguchi method coincides with the verified one well.
