Constant Repeated Loading of Corrugated Sheeting

Constant repeated uplift load testing of screw-fixed corrugated roof sheeting has revealed several factors which influence the number of cycles to failure. Such factors include the load applied to the sheeting, the initial screw-down of the fasteners, and the offset of the fasteners from the vertical. These factors should be considered when specifying standard test methods so that laboratory conditions may reflect conditions found in practice. Whilst constant repeated load testing is useful in assessing those factors which influence the life of a roof assembly, such loading conditions do not simulate actual wind loading on roofs. It is necessary to consider laboratory random loading conditions for adequate simulation.
