The Next Generation of Subsea Instrument Interface Modules for Cabled Observatory Systems

The Next Generation Subsea Instrument Interface Module (SIIM) has been designed to provide new features and improved performance. The core update to the SIIM allows for configuration of instrument port voltages and communications via software control, removing the select-on-build requirements of the previous iterations. When new instruments are connected to the SIIM, port voltages from 12 to 48VDC and Ethernet or serial communications can be configured on the SIIM without any need to open the pressure vessel. This, along with additional improvements in feature set and qualification testing, ensures the next generation SIIM will set the benchmark for subsea instrument interfaces to cables observatories.
