In most research on target detection employing MIMO radar with widely separated antennas, the clutter is assumed to be Gaussian distributed. However,in modern radar environment, the statistical character of the clutter is more likely to be non-Gaussian,so that a non-Gaussian clutter model is more accurate. This paper considered several detectors designed for Gaussian clutter model, and assumed the Log-Normal(LN) distribution for the non-Gaussian clutter.Analyzed the receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curves for MIMO radar and phased array radar systems for both Gaussian and non-Gaussian clutter.Further,in the case of non-Gaussian clutter, tested the detection performances of different radar systems. Finally, conclusions are drawn based on the simulation results.
