Digital Controls and Feed Drives State-of-the-Art and new Developments

Summary This paper surveys the state-of-the-art of digital controls and feed drives and reviews the digital computer aspects, particularly the microprocessor, rotary actuators, drive power sources, digital/analog servo structures and ac feed drives. It is suggested that controls of the future will possess greater sensory perception, higher levels of intelligence, more complete diagnostic techniques, higher performance servo systems and enhanced reliability.
