A study on cogging torque reducing method of BLDC motors

This paper examines two methods — shifting magnet, optimizing the magnet pole arc — for cogging torque reducing in permanent magnet motors. The methods were applied to existing machine designs and their performance was calculated using Flux 2D which bases on finite-element analysis (FEA).
