Presença de fibropapilomatose em espécime de Caretta caretta na Bacia Sergipe-Alagoas / Presence of fibropapillomatosis in Caretta caretta specimen in the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin

Sea turtles can be affected by several diseases of the integumentary, respiratory, gastroenteric system, as well as viruses, with fibropapillomatosis being one of the most important. This disease is debilitating and characterized by the presence of cutaneous tumors that develop mainly on the skin, eyes and internal organs, and may have a series of consequences for the animal. The present work aims to report the case of a specimen of loggerhead turtle with the presence of skin tumors, fecaloma and intracelomatic gas. He was rescued in Praia de Coqueiro / BA through the Regional Subprogram for Monitoring Strandings and Abnormalities in the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin and sent to the Rehabilitation Center of the Aquatic Mammals Foundation, where it was possible to observe the presence of a tumor mass suggestive of fibropapillomatosis measuring 12.1 cm radius and 8 cm high in the left anterior fin, in addition to minor tumors in the trapezius region. After a few months of rehabilitation, positive results were obtained with the treatment instituted making the animal fit for release.
