Harmonisation of Safety Standards for PES

Harmonisation is a catchword which has many shades of meaning. In this paper the development of the European Workshop on Industrial Computer Systems, its Committee on Safety Security and Reliability (EWICS TC7), and its links with standards creation is described. The work of this group is towards pre-standards adopted by industry as the users of systems, and to assist in the preparation of international standards in this difficult field.
