Data-based inverter multiple fault diagnosis for vector control induction motor drives

This study describes a method of diagnosis for multiple IGBT open-circuit faults in vector control induction motor drives. This method combines the wavelet analysis and the support vector machines (SVM). The wavelet analysis is used to extract fault characteristics, and the SVM is used to isolate fault modes. This method can diagnose multiple IGBT open-circuit faults when the motor is at different speeds and loads. The results of Matlab simulation analysis show that this method can effectively carry out the multiple fault diagnosis for IGBT open-circuit faults in vector control induction motor drives.
