한국 전통이미지의 재해석을 통한 콘솔디자인 개발 연구 - 생활용 가구 제품 개발을 중심으로-

While interest in Korean traditional culture and products seems to increase, various product development is still insufficient. In the traditional craft industry, the situation is similar, and it is experiencing a lot of difficulties due to changes in domestic and overseas market environment. The purpose of this study is to develop a console design that reflects the traditional culture as a modern image by reinterpreting traditional Korean images. The scope of the study is focused on the functional aspects that give convenience of life and the console design of Korean traditional image that also serves as decorative elements. The focus of the study was on the process of console furniture development, centering on the design development process that reinterpreted traditional Korean images. In this study, first, as an element of Korean traditional image, I extracted curvilinear, which is one of Korean traditional beauty, and applied smooth and simple curve image to the upper part of the console. Second, I applied the design to the motif of architectural structure. The Kongpo of Korean architecture(connecting the pillars and the roof), the image of the column, the interpretation of traditional Korean images and reflected in the console design. Third, cloud pattern is used as a decorative element of console table as a detailed expression element in Korean traditional pattern. In this way, I reinterpreted the traditional image and applied it to the console design as a basic element of the work, and produced three kinds of console furniture. This study is meaningful to reinterpret Korean traditional images and to develop and propose modern products using them, and it is necessary to pursue more efforts for various products in the future.
