Factors analysis on effective width of simply supported composite slim beam

The steel-concrete composite slim beams,with the steel beam encased in concrete floor slabs,have many advantages,such as low structural height,efficient fire resistance and good serviceability,etc.Therefore,there is a promising application prospect in multi-storey steel buildings for composite slim beam.The effective width of composite beam is the significant precondition for the calculation of loading capacity and stiffness of composite slim beam which are the foundation of the application in projects.In this paper,the influences on the effective width of some important factors such as span,spacing and thickness of flange plate are analyzed by Finite Element Analysis(FEA) and the suggestions for further researches are proposed.
