Catalytic combustion in monolith reactors

Abstract In this paper we consider the flow of premixed lean combustible gases along a catalytic monolith reactor. Using asymptotic techniques for high Zeldovich numbers, analytical expressions are obtained for fuel conversion in both kinetic and diffusion limited regimes. The influence of finite Zeldovich numbers and compressibility effects are pointed out. Damkohler numbers for ignition and extinction are determined.
