Multicellular Processing Units for Neural Networks: Model of Columns in the Cerebral Cortex

We develop a theory which models the adaptive capacities of the neuronal circuits in the cerebral cortex. This theory shares common features with connectionist models but with closer links with the physical reality of the cerebral cortex, particularly with what is known of its hierarchical organizational levels.
