Reflection coefficients of some tropical vegetation covers

Abstract A series of experiments was conducted to investigate the reflection coefficients or albedos of some vegetation covers in Malaysia. The reflection coefficient was determined by dividing the total reflected radiation per day, ( Q r ) by the total incoming radiation per day, ( Q T ), that is, Q r / Q T . The mean daily values of the reflection coefficients of oil palm, cocoa, natural grasses and legumes were found to be 0.18, 0.19, 0.21 and 0.21, respectively. Changes in reflection coefficient with time of day and with cloudiness were also confirmed.
