Statistical modelling of properties of discharge pulses in electric discharge machining

Abstract In this study, the random behavior of time-lag durations of discharge pulses are investigated for different machining conditions in Electric Discharge Machining (EDM). The gamma distribution function is shown to be a suitable statistical model to represent the statistical charactreistics of experimental time-lag distributions. For different machining conditions, variations in shape and scale factors of the two-variable gamma model are calculated and compared with the best fit found by trial and error.
