Parameter self-adaptive fault location of four-parallel transmission lines on the same tower

In order to eliminate the effects of electromagnetic coupling and parameters uncertainty of four-parallel transmission lines on the same tower for fault location, this paper proposes a novel parameter self-adaptive fault location scheme of four-parallel transmission lines on the same tower. Firstly, a decoupling method of four-parallel transmission lines is proposed to eliminate the effects of electromagnetic coupling of four-parallel transmission lines. Secondly, constructs a set of linear parameters self-adaptive equations based on the parallel component before fault to obtain the mathematical expressions of line parameters. Finally, on the basis of decoupling method and transmission line parameters self-adaptive method, the fault location observation equations based on the circulation components after fault are established to realize a data-independent fault location scheme of four-parallel transmission lines. As a set of linear formula for the line parameters is derived and the mathematical expression of fault location is given, the proposed method has high computing speed and precision. In the end, using ATP/EMTP, a four-parallel transmission line model is constructed for simulation. The analysis results demonstrate that the proposed fault location scheme is accurate.
