Demonstrating application of web-based large-scale power system calculations

Power grid is the jointly developed applications of grid-computing technology and technologies of power system monitoring and dispatching.With the introduction of power grid to deal with large-scale power system simulations,the distributed power system data and computational resources can be well organized,and significant parallel/distributed simulation speedup can be achieved.In this paper,the concept,features and framework of power grid are presented.The adaptive distributed simulation architecture of electromechanical characteristics is proposed based on analyzing the real parallel simulation systems.A script-based architecture is developed to automatically parallelize given computational tasks in the grid environment consisting of single-processor personal computers,shared-memory multiprocessor servers,clusters and high-performance computers.On this prototype platform,the data parallelism and task parallelism of dynamic security assessment is implemented and demonstrated.
