A HIERARCHY OF MODELS FOR MULTILANE VEHICULAR TRAFFIC II: NUMERICAL INVESTIGATIONS

In this paper the work presented in (A. Klar and R. Wegener, A hierarchy of models for multilane vehicular trac I: Modeling, SIAM J. Appl. Math., 59 (1999), pp. 983{1001) is contin- ued. The present article contains detailed numerical investigations of the models developed there. A numerical method to treat the kinetic equations obtained in the aforementioned paper is presented. Space homogeneous and inhomogeneous situations are considered.
