In a laboratory experiment osseointegrated implants inserted to mandibular bone models were radiographed. The diagnostic accuracy was good in stereoscopic pairs of radiographs with perpendicular projection and not acceptable in single radiographs. Variations in the film density between 1.0 – 1.6 did not change the diagnostic accuracy. The implant with its threaded pattern earned as an ideal gauge when measuring the perimplant bone height.
