Quantifying Survivability of Services in Distributed System

Ensuring system survivability has increased its importance as critical infrastructures have become heavily dependent on computers.This paper presents a systematic method for performing survivability analysis of services in distributed systems.Based on the concept of configuration,the system can be viewed hierarchically.In this hierarchical setting,the definitions and natures of the system,services and the dependency between services are presented.And by viewing the service as AND-OR structure,we can define the max-min survivability.
