Dynamic Characteristics of Connecting Traditional Substations With Fuel Cell Generation System

With the development of the electricity market and the attention paid to energy problem, the mode by which power grid combines with distributed generation is in good graces. In this paper the dynamic characteristics after the connection of fuel cell generation system with traditional substation is researched. On the basis of power generation principle of fuel cell and its detailed mathematical model, the dynamic characteristics of fuel cell generation systems with various capacities are compared and their impacts on distribution system. The response of fuel cell generation system to the power load fluctuation of substation is analyzed, and the advantages of fuel cell generation system, such as the ability to improve load following operation ability of power system and the reduction of system spinning reserve and enhancement of power system stability and so on, are tested.
