Design and Implementation a Web-Based Collaborative E- Learning Model: A Case Study - Computer Science Department Curriculum

Increasing popularity of learning from the internet, the construction of perfect models for a learning environment that depend on the web has become one of the hottest points on researching remote education. The goal of implementing e-learning system in the educational process is a significant importance in achieving the State's educational development program in the Republic of Iraq. E-learning system exhaust lots of money for building infrastructures and applications. It is clear that cloud computing can relief Educational institutions to reduce their structure cost, software cost and human resources remarkably. This paper proposes a new web-based model for cooperative learning are developed based on cloud computing destined to facilitate and to reduce related costs with access, operate, and to mitigate the management of technologies and e-learning content strategies. The model consists of many modules (admin, course, personal, learning records, and communication) to support the implementation of cooperative learning. An experiment was conducted to two (self-form, random) groups’ students, to inspect the learning efficiency of the developed model. Results indicate that students were consistently learning consistently in both groups, which verified the utility of the developed cooperative learning system and interactivity has a significant difference, but social context and online communication has insignificant difference among three dimensions of social presence theory.
