Nanomedizin – Herausforderung und Perspektiven

Die Anwendung nanotechnologischer Konzepte in der Medizin verbindet zwei grose interdisziplinare Wissenschaftsgebiete mit einem beispiellosen sozialen und okonomischen Potenzial. Diese Nanomedizin nutzt die Errungenschaften beider Forschungsfelder, wobei die gemeinsame Basis die Untersuchung spezifischer Eigenschaften auf der Molekulebene ist. Mithilfe lokaler Sonden und molekularer Bildgebungstechniken konnen Oberflachen- und Grenzflacheneigenschaften auf der Nanometerskala an vorgegebenen Messpunkten charakterisiert werden, wahrend es mit chemischen Methoden gelingt, Oberflachen kontrolliert zu modifizieren und zu adressieren. Beispiele hierfur sind neuartige Konzepte fur den gezielten Wirkstofftransport, die Biokompatibilitatsoptimierung und neuroprothetische Anwendungen. Allerdings sind im Hinblick auf toxikologische sowie ethische Aspekte dieser Querschnittsdisziplin noch viele Fragen offen.
