BGN: A novel scatternet formation algorithm for bluetooth-based sensor networks

To address the unreliability and inefficiency of the existin g algorithms for Bluetooth scatternet formation, this pape r proposes a new efficient algorithm, Bluetooth Growing Netwo rk (BGN) algorithm, which constructs Bluetooth scatternet by adding reserve links among its branch nodes so that the resul ting scatternet can maintain a high degree of connectivity w hile avoiding exccessive redundant links. Extensive simulatio n results demonstrate that the scatternet constructed by BG N algorithm is efficient in terms of the number of bridge nodes, average da ta tr nsmission distance, network reliablity and overall n etwork traffic.
