Conductometric Sensors Based on the Hypersensitive Response of Plasticized Polyaniline Films to Organic Vapors

The low conductivity of plasticized polyaniline films increases dramatically when the films are exposed to polar organic vapors. This effect was used to develop vapor sensors. Shown is the increase in conductivity (squares) and mass (solid line) resulting from exposure, beginning at 5 min, to the vapor above a 20% aqueous ethanol solution.
