Response to Letter Regarding Article, “Pharmacodynamic Effects of Different Aspirin Dosing Regimens in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients With Coronary Artery Disease”

We appreciate the constructive comments raised by Santos et al regarding our article in which we showed that increasing the frequency of administration of low-dose aspirin has more potent platelet inhibitory effects than increasing the daily dose in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.1 Indeed, our analysis has several consistencies in findings from those demonstrated by Santos et al in their previous investigation.2 The authors correctly raise an important observation regarding a potential cause that may interfere with aspirin-induced pharmacodynamic effects mediated by cell-cell interactions, namely platelets and …
