Multiple output fly back converter with primary side current mode control for defence applications

Switched Mode Power Supplies (SMPS) have a crucial role to play in present defense and space applications. SMPS are enabled to give a desired output voltage by controlling the PWM pulses given to the gate of the switching device. This paper is focused on design and implementation of current mode controlled multiple output flyback converter. Flyback topology makes the converter module more compact. The proposed converter delivers output voltages of 15V/1A, −15/1A and 5V/3A. The converter is switching at a frequency of 200 KHz and primary side current mode control technique is implemented using UCC28C43 Pulse Width Modulation Integrated Circuit (PWM IC). This will reduce transformer size and increases efficiency. Post regulators are used to achieve better line and load regulation. The converter is also provided with features such as under voltage, Short circuit and over temperature protection. Hardware implementation of converter module is done and results are validated.
