Research on Navigation Technology in Stereotactic Bain Surgery Based on Near Infrared Spectroscopy

At present, navigation path deviation is one unsolvable problem in stereotactic brain surgery. In this paper,a new method for neurosurgical real-time navigation and navigation path real-time correction based on near infrared spectroscopy(NIRS) was presented. The mathematical model between near infrared reduced scattering coefficient and the image data was established by regression analysis, and surgical navigation was guided by optical properties of biological tissue. The planned navigation path from image information was coned, and the gray information of deviation path from cone regarded as the priori knowledge of path correction based on NIRS.Intra-operative path correction was realized by the deviation path fitting based on curvature matching algorithm.Experimental results showed that the presented algorithm can meet the requirement of real-time navigation and path correction, and can attain an effective localization with a small error less than 1 mm.
