Electron paramagnetic resonance of Ti2+ in zinc-fired ZnSe

The EPR spectrum of Ti2+ in ZnSe has been observed after firing the crystals in molten zinc. The spectrum consists of sharp double-quantum lines superimposed on broader single-quantum signals, and shows isotropic hyperfine structure due to 47Ti and 49Ti and anisotropic superhyperfine structure due to 77Se. The spin-Hamiltonian parameters are determined. The g-value and the 77Se hyperfine constants show that there is a large covalent contribution to the selenium-titanium bond.
