An Improved Phase Angle Prediction Method for Quasi-synchronous Grid Connection of Large-scale Synchronous Condenser

To enhance the safety of grid connection of large-scale synchronous condenser, an improved method to predict the phase angle is proposed. For high-speed rotating machines, phase angle prediction is prone to be inaccurate with constant leading time. A forecasting method by Taylor series is adopted in this paper to reduce the deviation in phase angle prediction, thus the inrush current of grid connection would be minimized. Simulation is carried out in PSCAD, the method is proved effective.
